ME BANK nominated for CHOICE Awards'
Best Online Savings Account

ME Bank has been nominated for the inaugural CHOICE Award 2011 - Best Online Savings Account.

To be recognised by the people's watchdog is further vindication of our continued mission to give members of industry super funds and unions better value banking," said Ian Hendey, Executive Manager, Brand, Products and Distribution.

CHOICE last year launched its Consumer Awards for a wide range of categories, including Low Fee Bank Account. This year they have expanded the banking category to include Best Online Savings Accounts. Lawler Chartered Accountants have been appointed the Official Auditor of the CHOICE Awards 2011. Their expertise will ensure that every shortlisted CHOICE Awards candidate is rigorously analysed under strict criteria, to determine the winners.

In line with CHOICE's reputation of independent and rigorous testing of consumer products, the consumer advocacy group went beyond evaluating the online savings accounts currently available based on the highest interest rates on offer at any one time. In choosing nominees, CHOICE examined more than 40 complex features and fees before short listing ME Bank as a nominee.

"ME Bank is all about offering members of industry super funds and unions a genuine banking alternative. Our Online Savings Account – like all of our banking products – aims to be simple, fair and low cost. This is particularly relevant for online savings products where competition has been dominated by short term introductory offers to attract new customers rather than straight forward value for money offerings," added Mr Hendey.

The Online Savings Account was created to save customers time and money with features including no bank fees, no minimum deposit, no set term, penalty-free deposits and withdrawals and a competitive interest rate of 5.60% p.a.

CHOICE spokeswoman Ms Ingrid Just said ME Bank was short-listed from a list of 150 nominations in the Best Online Savings Category of the CHOICE Awards 2011. "High interest savings accounts have been very hot this year," she said.
