Industry super fund−owned bank ME has signed the ‘Paris Pledge for Action’ to signal the bank’s commitment to policies that will limit the global temperature rise to 2 degrees Celsius.
ME Group Executive Industry Affairs, Tony Beck, said a new, universal climate agreement at the Conference of Parties (COP 21) in Paris will help protect future generations and deliver economic certainty and prosperity into the future.
“We view this as a critical step in reducing the impact of climate change − we pledge our support and continue to take concrete steps now to reduce greenhouse gas emissions,” he said.
ME does not invest in the mining industry, including coal and gas exports, and does not intend to do so in the future.
