Industry super fund-owned bank ME has won ‘Online Bank of the Year’ and ‘Best Savings Account’ at the prestigious Financial Review Smart Investor Blue Ribbon Awards 2016 in Sydney.
The winners were published today in the Financial ReviewSmart Investor Magazine.
The Awards are widely acclaimed within the finance industry as the most comprehensive and independent evaluation of banking, insurance and investment products.
James Frost, Smart Investor Editor, said: "ME won ‘Online Bank of the Year’ not only for its outstanding online presence that offers customers a broad selection of products online, but also for its low fees, competitive rates and access to over 3,000 ATMs nationwide,” he said.
Frost also congratulated ME for winning ‘Best Savings Account’, an online product that “consistently boasts one of the most competitive ongoing rates in the marketplace”. The Awards judges said: “When it comes to savings accounts, the criteria of the typical user is pretty simple. They want a high rate of interest, easy access to their money and the backing of an authorised deposit taking institution. ME’s Online Savings account is that product.” ME CEO, Jamie McPhee, attributed ME’s success to its commitment of helping all Australians get ahead and making banking as simple as possible.
“Every Australian deserves to get the most out of their money. We’re here to help you get more from your savings and pay less on your loans – however we can, whenever we can,” he said.
ME was also highly commended as ‘Bank of the Year’ and ‘Best Term Deposit: Long Term’.
Together with the Financial Review Smart Investor Magazine, who issues the Blue Ribbon awards, industry-leading researchers Finder.com.au, Lonsec Fiscal, Morningstar and Rice Warner helped select the winners and finalists. They compared banking products across the market based on price and features to identify the top offers.
