Our purpose.

Our purpose.

ProudlyME – our LGBTIQ+ employee affinity group – exists to spark conversation and stand tall for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer and gender-diverse employees and customers, and all our straight allies.

A word from our CEO.

A word from our CEO.

ME is not simply a business – or just a bank – we’re a team of over 1000 employees and over 500,000 customers and it is our view that all have the right to be treated equally. ME has always been a different type of bank. Our history from day one has been to assist in creating dignity in retirement by providing low cost home loans. Indeed, we were founded on the principle of a fair go for all Australians.

The very essence of this organisation is about creating fairness and equality for all Australians. We stand for equality and we stand proud.

MQFF sponsorship.

We’re proud to be a major sponsor of one of Melbourne’s most loved queer community events – the Melbourne Queer Film Festival which runs over March celebrating a proudly different kind of film festival. We teamed up with MQFF because we’re a bank that supports our staff and customers to be proudly themselves.

Meet some of our team

Kate, Home Loan Quality Officer

“I’m tired of feeling brave about telling someone I’m gay. I’m tired of feeling scared about what reaction I might receive. Being out and visible might mean in the years to come that I don’t have to feel brave or scared or worried - I can simply just be me. Hopefully me taking steps like this to be so publicly “out” helps just one person feel a little better about being themselves.

As a mum of two kids I want them to grow up knowing that being true to themselves is important, and that the only “normal” part to life is that people are different.“

-Kate, Home Loan Quality Officer

Paul GM People Experience

“As a proudly gay man, it’s great to work in an environment that genuinely encourages and supports you to bring your full self to work. It’s reassuring as a leader at ME, knowing that the board and executive proactively foster an inclusive and diverse workforce.”

-Paul, GM People Experience

Lil Real Time Analyst

“ProudlyME is important to me as it’s given me a community at work, and it’s been amazing being a part of a group making real change in the workplace, and queer community at large.

ME supports all our initiatives and really walks the walk in striving to make our workplace a more inclusive and positive place to be, not just for LGBTQIA+ staff but for everyone. ”
