If you’ve got a credit card debt with another bank, you can get your balance transferred to your ME credit card, potentially saving you a bundle on interest and fees – something that’s known in the trade as a ‘credit card balance transfer ’.

To get your balance transferred you need to be the main cardholder on both credit cards, and you can only transfer your debt if your ME credit card account is 100% paid up.

No interest-free period

There’s no interest-free period on credit card balance transfers – any debt you transfer will start incurring interest from the day it lands on your ME card.

Take it to the limit

You can transfer debt up to $100 shy of your credit card limit, with the final buffer there to cover any interest accumulated while the transaction goes through.

Closing down your credit card

Moving your credit card debt doesn’t actually close your other credit card account – if you want it closed, you’ll need to get in touch with the bank in question.
